That’s when construction of Rogers M City Developments’ $1.5 billion, 15 acre, 10 tower project at the corner of Burnhamthorpe Rd and Confederation is slated to start.

M City is a new master planned community located in the heart of Mississauga. It begins with the construction of an iconic tower rising 60 storeys, making it the tallest building in Mississauga. Containing 785 condominium suites ranging in size from around 400 sq.ft to about 900 sq.ft. Prices will range from approximately $200,000 and up.

The buildings undulating design gives the appearance of a structure that rises unendingly up to and beyond the clouds. This design offers a variety of rectangular floor plates of varying size, making the layouts of the units practical and efficient.

The design is intended to be “iconic yet simple… something that would last the test of time,” said CORE Architects Babak Eslahjou.

The balcony glass is white in appearance to help easily define the outline of the building while obscuring items that owners tend to leave on them.

Amenities will be family friendly including an outdoor swimming pool, splash pad, gym and party room and a proposed skating rink on the roof top podium.

Two acres of parkland and piazza areas, pedestrian friendly walkways, retail and commercial stores will be part of the overall design of the development.

The parcel of land was originally purchased the 1960s by Ted Rogers for $170,000 with intentions of erecting a transmission tower for the radio station CHFI and the families other broadcasts, whose transmitter is now located on top the CN Tower. But the land has sat vacant since then.

Located within walking distance of Mississauga YMCA, Central Library, Celebration Square, Living Arts Centre, Sheridan College, Square One Shopping Centre, Cineplex Theatre, Playdium and Mississauga’s Civic Centre, the building’s address will have a walk score of 85.

Drivers will have quick access to Hwy’s 403, 410, 401, 407 and the QEW. As well as major arterial roads such as Burnhamthorpe, Hurontario, Mavis and Confederation Pkwy.

Partners in the design and construction of the tower include: Urban Capital who is one of Canada’s leading developers with an award winning reputation for architectural design. Cecconi Simone Inc. an award winning interior-design practice in Toronto who’s past projects include the Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos Toronto, Chaz in Yorkville as well as RE Hotel & Residences in Ottawa.
